About the position

General Motors is seeking qualified Industrial Electrician Journeypersons to join our team. This role requires working under minimal supervision and involves a variety of responsibilities related to the layout, installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits. The Electrician Journeyperson will utilize their troubleshooting and technical expertise on control systems to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities. The position is based in Bay City, Michigan, and is a full-time opportunity that may require flexible shift hours, including day, afternoon, or night shifts, as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays with little notice. The Electrician Journeyperson will be responsible for following established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company protocols. Key responsibilities include maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, analyzing and troubleshooting electrical malfunctions, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment. The role also emphasizes teamwork and collaboration with other departments, as well as participation in continuous improvement activities. The ability to read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics is essential, along with strong problem-solving skills to address any issues that arise promptly. Candidates must meet specific qualifications, including at least six years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
