About the position

As an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer III at Varian, a Siemens Healthineers Company, you will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for medical devices aimed at combating cancer. Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate and enhance manufacturing processes by designing and conducting comprehensive test plans. You will own the development and maintenance of manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This includes creating and maintaining manufacturing instructions, validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ, TMV), and process controls to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Utilizing advanced Six Sigma techniques, you will optimize processes and implement effective process controls. You will lead teams in implementing complex process improvements and serve as a technical expert in tooling and process development. Your role will also involve assisting in manufacturing decision-making, informed by data collected on production, labor, and material costs. You will independently lead complex root cause analyses to understand failure modes and develop countermeasures and permanent process improvements. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in manufacturing processes, you will collaborate closely with Research and Development (R&D) teams to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback, solve complex issues, and facilitate the release of new products. You will maintain records and reporting systems according to company standards and industry regulations, while also actively coaching less experienced team members and providing oversight for projects and daily work. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting test plans.
  • Own the development and maintenance of manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Utilize advanced Six Sigma techniques to optimize and implement process controls.
  • Lead teams to implement complex process improvements and serve as a technical expert in tooling and process development.
  • Assist in manufacturing decision-making informed by data collected on production, labor, and material costs.
  • Independently lead complex root cause analysis to understand failure modes and develop countermeasures and permanent process improvements.
  • Serve as a manufacturing process SME that partners with R&D for DFM feedback, solving complex issues, and releasing new products.
  • Maintain records and reporting systems according to company standards and industry regulations.
  • Actively coach less experienced team members and provide oversight for projects and daily work.

Requirements

  • Engineering or technical bachelor's degree (BSEE, BSEET, BS Industrial Technology) and 5 years of related experience OR master's degree with 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in Medical Devices or similarly regulated environment.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrated experience using lean and six sigma tools for process improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and business intelligence (BI) tools (Minitab and Power BI desired).
  • Proficient in creating, reviewing, and editing relevant technical documents and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of assembly and testing of PCBAs and/or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to partner with technicians and management, and communicate complex issues to various levels of the organization.
  • Must be safety conscious.
  • Ability to multitask with daily production support activities and related projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior capital equipment experience desired.
  • RF/microwave experience a plus.
