About the position

Bilfinger Industrial Services Inc. is seeking an Electrical Planner/Field Engineer for our Iowa City, IA site location. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual who will assist with the detailed planning and scheduling of construction work. The primary focus will be to ensure that the project is executed safely and in accordance with all design, budget, and schedule requirements. The Electrical Planner/Field Engineer will play a crucial role in the successful execution of electrical work, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. In this role, the individual will be responsible for the detailed planning and scheduling of the electrical work assigned to them. This includes estimating project costs, performing detailed material take-offs, sizing conduit and wiring in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), requisitioning field materials, and supervising a small team of electrical maintenance technicians who will execute the planned work. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of safety and quality in all work performed. The Electrical Planner/Field Engineer will also be expected to communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients to ensure that all project requirements are met. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing project conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering or construction management, along with relevant experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing plant construction or maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the detailed planning and scheduling of construction work.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management (Required).
  • Two-year Electrical Technician Diploma or 5 to 10 years of electrical estimating/planning experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing plant construction or maintenance operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
