About the position

The Electrical Power Engineer (Field) will be integral to the design and implementation of electrical power systems, focusing on power delivery and systems related to transmission, distribution, substations, and renewable energy integration. This role is part of the Power Delivery Team and may require relocation to the project site in Milford, UT, with partial remote work options for qualified candidates. The position reports to the Construction Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
  • Maintaining records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
  • Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments
  • Investigating problems and/or reported incidents; identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives as appropriate
  • Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing of materials, etc.
  • Working with suppliers to facilitate the handling and expediting delivery of materials
  • Assisting with engineering, financial, and technical analysis for various power-related engineering projects
  • Conducting power system planning and operations analysis, including reliability and economic dispatch
  • Ensuring assigned projects comply with all applicable company and electrical industry standards throughout all project phases
  • Providing electrical and power technical support on multi-discipline projects
  • Providing timely feedback on deliverables/estimates to achieve schedule milestones on assigned projects
  • Communicating site preferences and approved manufacturers to engineering contractors on the front-end of each project
  • Taking ownership of electrical work packages and overseeing progress with the engineering contractor
  • Reviewing and approving equipment spec sheets prior to procurement and supporting the purchasing of equipment and materials
  • Supporting the development of company electrical equipment specification, engineering and installation standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical power systems design
  • Working knowledge of standard electrical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures
  • Working knowledge of NESC and NEC in typical capital projects
  • Familiarity with electrical analysis programs (ETAP, SKM)
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power systems design
  • Experience with renewable energy integration and coal-fired power plant retirement studies
  • Field engineering experience; Project management experience
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
