About the position

The Electrical Power Systems - Software Engineer is responsible for the advanced development of Power Systems Application software, ensuring successful delivery of assigned functions to meet corporate project and product commitments. This role involves collaboration with Electric Utilities, ISOs, and Transmission and Distribution System Operators to create functional software specifications, as well as designing, coding, testing, and integrating applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced Power Systems Application software and ensure successful delivery of assigned functions.
  • Work with Electric Utilities or ISOs and Transmission and Distribution System Operators on functional software specifications.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and tune applications for power systems.
  • Act as a member of the Software Center of Excellence, promoting high-quality design and development practices.
  • Implement new functionalities in power system application software including DMS, DTS, and Modeling applications.
  • Maintain power systems application functionality, including code fixes and documentation.
  • Collaborate with system/project engineers and frontend developers to implement aligned solutions.
  • Consult with technical leads to ensure adherence to project-related system design guidelines.
  • Write DMS Functional Software Designs and provide input on schedules and cost estimates.
  • Interface with customers on issues within the area of functional expertise.
  • Provide marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Power Systems with at least two years of development or project delivery experience, or a Master's Degree in Electrical Power Systems.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Work or academic experience in the power systems area.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++, C#, Python, or other related languages.
  • Knowledge or experience in RDBMS.
  • Strong understanding of EMS and DMS software.
  • Good understanding of power systems and energy management systems, focusing on transmission and distribution network applications.
  • Knowledge of electric utility industry practices.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
