About the position

The Electrical Pre-Press (EPP) Intern will engage in a variety of tasks within Graphics Design programs on both MAC and PC platforms, aimed at enhancing the intern's academic experience while providing relevant work experience. This internship is scheduled from January 2025 to June 2025. The EPP Intern will be responsible for preflighting documents according to established printing standards and making necessary adjustments to various file types to prepare them for print and digital reproduction. This role is crucial in ensuring that all graphics meet the quality and safety standards set by the company. In this position, the intern will demonstrate a commitment to safety by adhering to company safety policies and procedures. Quality is paramount, and the intern will perform duties in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines. The intern will create and manipulate graphic files using Macintosh platforms and software such as Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, and Acrobat PDF files. The ability to learn new equipment and procedures quickly is essential, as is the capacity to share this knowledge with peers. The intern will utilize skills in imposition, color separation, and trapping, working collaboratively with peers and other departments to enhance quality and performance. Participation in Lean manufacturing initiatives is expected, and the intern should be aware of their responsibilities regarding product safety, legality, and quality systems. Additional duties may be assigned by management as needed, providing a comprehensive learning experience in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Preflight documents according to printing standards.

Requirements

  • Experience with the Macintosh platform utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
  • Knowledge of offset and/or flexographic printing.
  • Demonstrated ability to color separate and step and repeat electronic art.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a highly technical environment under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of high-end graphic systems is considered an asset.
