About the position

As a Process Control Engineer at PPG, you will provide technical expertise in designing, maintaining, and modifying process control and safety systems for chemical and specialty material production. This role involves supporting 24/7 operations, troubleshooting systems, and managing instrumentation and automation projects to enhance efficiency and safety in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support for the site's 24/7 operations regarding safety and process control systems, process instrumentation, DCS, and PLCs.
• Utilize technical knowledge and data analysis skills to troubleshoot process control systems.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities on control and electrical systems.
• Support production and maintenance departments in continuous improvement, yield improvement, and efficiency improvements.
• Manage installation and startup of instrumentation and automation projects, including capital projects.
• Ensure projects meet functional, budgetary, and timeline requirements.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to provide instrumentation and automation support for broader mechanical and chemical projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years' experience working in an industrial manufacturing or chemical process environment.
• Experience with variable frequency drives, PLC programming, and HMI programming.
• Experience with process instrumentation in an industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical drawings.
