About the position

The Electrical Product Engineer is responsible for the design development and construction support of new products, special products, product modifications, and changes to standard products. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including drawing activities, which involve both layout and detail, as well as component specification. The engineer will be expected to layout and design new products or modifications to existing products, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary industry standards and specifications. In addition to design responsibilities, the Electrical Product Engineer will develop system schematics and wiring diagrams that adhere to appropriate industry standards. This includes creating detailed drawings required for specification control, assembly details, and proposal drawings for sales purposes. The engineer will also be responsible for developing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for sales orders and quotations, which are crucial for accurate pricing and inventory management. Another key aspect of this position involves initiating, coordinating, and processing Temporary Variance Allowances (TVAs) as needed. The engineer will work closely with other departments to resolve any production issues or problems related to purchased parts. Performing cost analysis will also be a part of the job, ensuring that all projects remain within budgetary constraints. Furthermore, the engineer will write and maintain installation and operating instruction manuals, ensuring that all documentation is clear and accessible for end-users. Lastly, it is essential that the engineer verifies that both design and production processes comply with various agency approvals, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and design new products or modifications to existing products.
  • Specify component parts.
  • Develop system schematics and wiring diagrams to appropriate industry standards.
  • Develop drawings required including specification control, assembly detail, and proposal drawings for sales.
  • Develop BOMs for sales order and quotations.

  • Coordinate with other departments to resolve problems in production or with purchased parts.
  • Perform cost analysis as required.
  • Write and maintain installation and operating instruction manuals.
  • Verify design and production is in compliance with various Agency approvals.

Requirements

  • BSEE with three years of experience in electronics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with UPS, Inverter, DC Power Supplies, and Battery Chargers is a plus.
  • Specific experience with three-phase power is desirable.
