About the position

Griner Engineering, Inc. (GEI) is a well-established Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Consulting Engineering Design firm providing MEP/FP engineering designs. We are seeking a full-time experienced Electrical Professional Engineer with 8+ years of experience in electrical consulting design to work with our electrical engineering team at our Sevierville, TN office. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing electrical systems design by others on staff for a variety of projects, including new construction, tenant improvements, or renovations for retail establishments, custom homes, multi-family dwellings, hospitality facilities, municipal facilities, medical offices, surgical centers, hospitals, and mixed-use facilities. The role involves reviewing a full set of electrical drawings based on the client's design criteria, which includes Lighting, Power, and Systems Design, Emergency Power Distribution, Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Life Safety Code Analysis and Design, Communication Systems, and Fault Current Study/Analysis, and Photometrics. Other responsibilities may include responding to reviewer comments, reviewing submittals and RFI's, performing site visits to examine/verify existing conditions, conducting electrical inspections and analyses, and performing close-out inspections when necessary. The candidate must have keen attention to detail and be expected to mentor other electrical department team members. Exceptional communication skills are required for effective interaction with project clients, partners, contractors, and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical systems design by others on staff for various projects.
  • Review a full set of electrical drawings based on the client's design criteria.
  • Respond to reviewer comments and review submittals and RFI's.
  • Perform site visits to examine and verify existing conditions.
  • Conduct electrical inspections and analyses.
  • Perform close-out inspections when necessary.
  • Mentor other electrical department team members.
  • Communicate effectively with project clients, partners, contractors, and sub-contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Possess a Tennessee Professional Engineer license.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Codes (NEC), Building Codes, and local codes.
  • Proficient in using Revit and AutoCAD, as well as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven ability to perform the responsibilities listed above.
