About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to lead the production of technically complex projects in various sectors including industrial, oil & gas, and water/wastewater. This role involves full electrical design responsibilities, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring project quality and budget adherence. The position is based in multiple locations including Greenwood Village, CO, St. Louis, MO, and several cities in Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day production of electrical design for multiple projects.
  • Conduct code research and application for electrical systems.
  • Perform fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions for projects.
  • Develop preliminary schematics through to final designs.
  • Carry out calculations for electrical systems design.
  • Specify, size, and layout equipment for projects.
  • Coordinate with other production staff and disciplines.
  • Prepare accurate electrical system construction drawings and specifications.
  • Review submittals and manage construction administration.
  • Mentor engineers, designers, and drafters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) required.
  • 8-10 years of experience in technically complex system design.
  • Experience in industrial power distribution, controls, and MV systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in power engineering.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC and IEEE standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with immunization requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • NCEES Record holder preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks software preferred.
  • Knowledge of SKM PowerTools or ETap preferred.
