About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer in one of our offices located in Greenwood Village, CO (Denver Tech Center), St. Louis, MO, or Peoria, Champaign, Normal, Lisle or Springfield, IL. This position is integral to our team of Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, and Scientists who are committed to making meaningful contributions to the world around us. As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will lead the day-to-day production of industrial, oil & gas, water/wastewater, and other technically complex projects. You will be responsible for full Electrical design, which includes Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and electrical MV systems design for industrial and oil and gas markets. In this role, you will assume multi-project responsibilities, engaging in code research and application, conducting fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions, and developing preliminary schematics through to final designs. You will perform calculations, specify, size, and layout equipment, coordinate with other production staff, and prepare accurate Electrical system construction drawings and specifications. Additionally, you will be involved in submittal review and construction administration, interfacing with other disciplines, clients, and contractors while maintaining project design budgets and schedules. This position also includes mentoring engineers, designers, and drafters, providing you with the opportunity to foster professional growth and advancement within the company. Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day production of industrial, oil & gas, water/wastewater, and other technically complex projects.
  • Assume multi-project responsibilities for full Electrical design, including Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and electrical MV systems design.
  • Conduct code research and application.
  • Perform fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions.
  • Develop preliminary schematics through to final designs.
  • Perform calculations for electrical systems.
  • Specify, size, and layout equipment for projects.
  • Coordinate with other production staff to ensure project success.
  • Prepare accurate Electrical system construction drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct submittal review and construction administration.
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors to maintain project design budgets and schedules.
  • Mentor engineers, designers, and drafters.

Requirements

  • Electrical engineer with 8-10 years of experience in technically complex system design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) is required.
  • Wide range of design experience, including industrial power distribution, controls, and MV systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with others.
  • Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to solve complex power engineering problems.
  • Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards associated with electrical power, including National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and applicable IEEE Standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with immunization requirements for industrial clients.
  • Willingness to complete occasional travel to client sites in support of projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • NCEES Record holder preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks software preferred.
  • Knowledge of SKM PowerTools or ETap preferred.
