About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer in one of our offices located in Greenwood Village, CO (Denver Tech Center), St. Louis, MO, or Peoria, Champaign, Normal, Lisle or Springfield, IL. This position is integral to our team of Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, and Scientists who are committed to making meaningful contributions to the world around us. As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will lead the day-to-day production of industrial, oil & gas, water/wastewater, and other technically complex projects. You will assume multi-project responsibilities for full Electrical design, which includes Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and electrical MV systems design for industrial and oil and gas markets. In this role, you will actively engage in and assume responsibility for various tasks including code research and application, fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions, preliminary schematics through final designs, calculations, equipment specification, sizing, and layout, as well as coordination with other production staff. You will prepare accurate Electrical system construction drawings and specifications, conduct submittal reviews, and manage construction administration. Additionally, you will interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors while maintaining project design budgets and schedules, all while pursuing quality outcomes. This position also includes a mentoring component, where you will be responsible for guiding engineers, designers, and drafters. You will report to an engineering manager who will provide mentoring and training opportunities for your professional growth and advancement. Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day production of industrial, oil & gas, water/wastewater, and other technically complex projects.
  • Assume multi-project responsibilities for full Electrical design, including Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and electrical MV systems design.
  • Conduct code research and application.
  • Perform fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions.
  • Develop preliminary schematics through final designs.
  • Perform calculations and equipment specification, sizing, and layout.
  • Coordinate with other production staff.
  • Prepare accurate Electrical system construction drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct submittal reviews and manage construction administration.
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors while maintaining project design budgets and schedules.
  • Mentor engineers, designers, and drafters.

Requirements

  • Electrical engineer with 8-10 years of experience in technically complex system design.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer License (PE) is required.
  • Wide range of design experience, including industrial power distribution, controls and MV systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with others and work on multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to solve complex power engineering problems.
  • Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards associated with electrical power, including National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and applicable IEEE Standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks and willingness to comply with immunization requirements that our industrial clients may require to access their facilities.
  • Ability to complete occasional travel to client sites in support of projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • NCEES Record holder preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks software preferred.
  • Knowledge of SKM PowerTools or ETap preferred.
