About the position

The Project Engineer I - Sustaining role involves participating in design, quality, and cost reduction improvement projects for existing products, as well as new vendor validation and parts consolidation projects. The position requires interfacing with purchasing and vendors, leading technical aspects of projects, and managing multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with purchasing and vendors in the modification and approval of component parts.
  • Construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the change management, validation, and approval processes.
  • Lead the technical side of the project from the idea to the completion of the validation tests.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results, and project activity as required.
  • Develop schedules, coordinate, and manage projects of minor to major size.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare budgetary and resource information regarding projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.
  • Provide technical support to sales/marketing and manufacturing of new and existing products and processes.
  • Design components for Medium Voltage switchgear per specification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of Engineering experience.
  • 0-3 years of CAD experience in creating 3D models and 2D prints.
  • Ability to use small hand and power tools.
  • Experience with desktop software such as MS Office (MSWord, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint & Access).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in CREO CAD System.
  • Experience with PDM database system, Windchill.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and computer analysis programs (FEA, kinematic & dynamic analysis).
  • Ability to create innovative designs.
  • Good understanding of statics and material properties.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical standards.
