About the position

The Electrical Project Engineer II role at G&W Electric focuses on supporting product realization through collaboration with cross-functional teams. This position is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, and ensuring compliance with product realization requirements, while also engaging in design and testing of new electrical products.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned tasks and assist team members to ensure project completion according to schedule.
  • Assist with the development of project schedules and manage project coordination.
  • Prepare project budgets and assist with the completion of Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements.
  • Manage system level design requirements for Medium Voltage switchgear according to specifications and standards.
  • Create engineering test plans for design responsibilities and construct/test prototype components as needed.
  • Perform pre-test calculations and review test data in relation to calculations and standards.
  • Conduct engineering analysis for new products and their subcomponents.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on new and existing products.
  • Document processes, material requirements, test results, and project activities as required.
  • Interface with purchasing and vendors for component selection and approval.
  • Provide engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing for new and existing products.
  • Direct supporting personnel such as Associate Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Maintain CAD databases and libraries following established procedures.
  • Review engineering drawings prior to release for manufacturing and approve applicable drawings.
  • Ensure selected parts and processes meet project and company goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • More than 3 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or development.
  • Experience with 3D parametric modeling.
  • Experience working on highly technical projects and a desire to tackle new challenges.
  • Familiarity with new product development Stage Gate Process.
  • Effective communication skills, including preparing presentations and leading project meetings.
  • Technical knowledge in motor operators, current and voltage sensing, grounding and voltage surges, and power systems.
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit board design.
  • Ability to use soldering iron and small hand/power tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with SPICE software or equivalents.
  • Ability to write technical documents such as test reports and engineering standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DFMEA strongly preferred.
  • ProE/Creo and Finite Element experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medium/high voltage electrical power systems.
  • A history of creativity, innovation, and initiative; self-starter driven to learn new methodologies.
