About the position

The Electrical Project Engineer will oversee and manage all electrical aspects of projects within the cement manufacturing operation. This role involves planning, designing, executing, and completing electrical projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, are completed on time, and stay within budget. The position requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering and project management skills, particularly in the cement or heavy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budgets for electrical projects.
  • Coordinate with other departments (mechanical, civil, process) to ensure integrated project planning.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost control measures are in place.
  • Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems and components for new installations, upgrades, and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Review and approve electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to source electrical equipment and materials.
  • Evaluate and select vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with suppliers.
  • Ensure timely delivery and quality of materials and equipment.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members.
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols for electrical projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate hazards.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design files, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Ensure proper handover of completed projects to the operations and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical project management, preferably in the cement manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.
