About the position

Wiley|Wilson is seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Professional Electrical Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, Virginia. Our electrical engineering practice specializes in building systems design, where our engineers are involved in designing all electrical sub-disciplines for diverse and unique projects across multiple markets. This includes a focus on critical facilities, sustainability, and alternate energy design. In this role, you will utilize your experience and technical skills to solve complex problems while ensuring compliance with industry and client standards, codes, and regulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture, various engineering disciplines, project managers, and contractors, to lead project teams and deliver comprehensive engineering design packages to a wide range of clients, including federal, state, and local agencies, as well as commercial and industrial entities and universities. Additionally, you will provide engineering oversight and direction to junior engineers and designers, offering leadership and training. Your responsibilities will also include supporting construction and commissioning activities, ensuring the quality and accuracy of work, and effectively communicating with project managers, design and construction teams, and clients. You will work with the electrical team across offices to enhance internal standards and conduct load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop calculations for optimal system configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize experience and technical skills to solve complex problems, ensuring compliance with industry and client standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architecture, all engineering disciplines, project managers, and contractors.
  • Lead project teams, delivering comprehensive engineering design packages to diverse clients such as federal, state, and local agencies; commercial and industrial entities; and universities.
  • Provide engineering oversight and direction to junior engineers and designers, including leadership and training.
  • Support construction and commissioning activities, ensuring quality and accuracy of work and effectively communicating with project manager, design and construction teams, and clients.
  • Work with the electrical team across offices to enhance internal standards, conduct load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop calculations for optimal system configurations.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, architectural/electrical engineering, or electrical engineering technology from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia or ability to obtain through reciprocity within three months of start date.
  • Experience in building system design including power distribution, lighting and control systems, grounding and lightning protection, and emergency and uninterruptible power systems.
  • Familiarity with system modeling software (i.e., ETAP, SKM, AGI) and knowledge of sustainable design practices.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and to obtain a security clearance.
