About the position

The Electrical Project Engineer will work within a dynamic, employee-owned consulting firm, focusing on electrical engineering projects across various industries including education, public works, and healthcare. The role involves collaborating with senior engineering staff from the initial design phase through to construction and commissioning, addressing complex design challenges while adhering to quality control processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to excel in the consulting engineering field and embrace opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design computations for electrical systems.
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines using design software and drawing tools.
  • Develop construction cost estimates for projects.
  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Attend meetings with clients to discuss project requirements and progress.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by defined deadlines and established quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5-10 years' experience related to electrical power distribution, power generation, motor controls, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm design, telecommunications network design, or security systems design.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk's CADD and Autodesk's Revit.
  • Proficient in discipline-specific design software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley's Microstation.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Modeling Software, SKM Power Tools or ETAP.
  • Working knowledge of Lighting Modeling Software, AGE 32 or ElumTools.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing apparatus.
  • Experience working with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local codes.
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level.
