About the position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Project Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN. The Electrical Project Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting a project management team, engaging in a variety of tasks that are essential for the successful execution of electrical projects. This position involves the development of jobsite documentation, including Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, supplemental design documentation, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes, and submittals. The engineer will coordinate with shop and field supervision to ensure timely deliveries of equipment and materials, acting as the lead for the development and assembly of estimates and budgets for change orders. In addition to these responsibilities, the Electrical Project Engineer will attend project meetings with both internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals. The role requires writing and tracking purchase orders and subcontracts, as well as working independently with project controls and fieldwork supervision to update project schedules. Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior project engineers is also a key aspect of this position. The engineer will serve as a liaison between project management, quality control, shop personnel, and field crews, managing project resources, schedules, and budgets to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes. Maintaining project tracking logs for systems and equipment installation is essential for accurate project reporting and schedule incorporation.

Responsibilities

  • Support project management team with development of jobsite documentation (RFIs, change orders, supplemental design documentation, QA/QC, submittals, etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project engineering with significant exposure to commercial/industrial electrical systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Proficient with learning and applying technical concepts
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure and deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in Industrial plants/project is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions and adapt to changing priorities
  • Field engineering experience working directly with craft personnel
  • Proficient with software systems including Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
