About the position

At AECOM, we are committed to delivering a better world through our infrastructure consulting services. As an Electrical Substation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our growing Energy Business Line. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices across the United States, making it an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to advance into project leadership roles. Our team provides a comprehensive range of electrical engineering services across multiple market sectors, including transmission systems, power distribution, renewables, and next-generation energy solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff. You will assist in the development of substation and switching station physical designs, including air-insulated and gas-insulated substations. Your responsibilities will also include creating general arrangement drawings, plan drawings, one-line and three-line diagrams, and various electrical schematics. You will be involved in the preparation of equipment layouts, connection diagrams, and bill of materials, as well as performing critical calculations such as grounding analysis, cable sizing, and power system studies. As a detail-oriented engineer, you will be expected to make independent decisions and provide mentorship to other electrical engineers within our Power group. Your experience in the power industry, particularly in the design of high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) substations and transmission systems, will be essential in promoting our skills to new clients and maintaining our existing client base. You will also support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning phases, ensuring that all engineering work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
