About the position

The Electrical Systems Engineer position at PSEG Power focuses on providing technical expertise in the nuclear power sector, specifically in the identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues. The role aims to ensure plant reliability and availability while developing long-term asset management strategies and leading cross-functional teams to address system performance issues. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of onsite and remote work, and emphasizes the importance of health and well-being for its employees.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues.
  • Monitor, trend, and assess systems and components to improve reliability.
  • Establish system performance for designated electrical systems and prioritize corrective actions.
  • Develop and scope long-term asset management strategies and life cycle management.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve system performance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with design/license basis.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering or equivalent experience in system, design, strategic planning, or component engineering.
  • Ability to support shift work during refueling outages and forced outages.
  • Ability to gain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree or experience in an electrical/controls/digital engineering or technology discipline.
  • 5+ years of Nuclear Power Plant experience in electrical design or plant engineering.
  • Understanding of NERC/FERC requirements, Generator Systems, Transformers, Maintenance Rule, PWR Electrical System Design, and the Taproot failure analysis process.
  • Experience with large power generators.
  • SRO license or certification preferred. MS or PE.
