About the position

The Electrical Systems Engineering Manager for New Products at Redwood Materials will lead the electrical design, development, and integration of new products aimed at creating a sustainable supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products. This role involves managing a small team of engineers, overseeing complex systems integration, and ensuring successful project execution while collaborating with various engineering teams. The position is pivotal in building and scaling the electrical engineering team as the product develops.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the electrical system design and development of a large-scale renewable energy solution from concept to deployment.
• Select power conversion products, supervisory control modules, and balance of system components, working closely with suppliers and vendors.
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of the overall product.
• Manage engineering projects in a hands-on capacity to deliver on project goals and timelines.
• Take a leadership role in recruiting, mentoring, and managing a high-performance electrical engineering team.
• Stay up to date on industry advancements and best practices, ensuring designs are compliant with relevant standards.
• Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced startup culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, focusing on batteries or renewable energy systems.
• Proven track record as a senior electrical engineer with hands-on design, prototyping, and testing experience.
• Experience in Altium or related E-CAD software.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
