About the position

The Electrical Systems Engineering Manager for New Products at Redwood Materials will lead the electrical design, development, and integration of a new product aimed at enhancing sustainability in the electric vehicle and clean energy sectors. This role involves managing a small team of engineers, overseeing complex systems integration, and ensuring successful project execution while collaborating with various engineering teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in a startup environment, taking on both technical and leadership challenges to build and scale the electrical engineering team as the product develops.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the electrical system design and development of a large-scale renewable energy solution from concept to deployment.
  • Select power conversion products, supervisory control modules, and balance of system components, working closely with suppliers and vendors.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of the overall product.
  • Manage engineering projects in a hands-on capacity to deliver on project goals and timelines.
  • Take a leadership role in recruiting, mentoring, and managing a high-performance electrical engineering team.
  • Stay up to date on industry advancements and best practices, ensuring designs are at the forefront of technology and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced startup culture.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, focusing on batteries, renewable energy systems, or similar large-scale projects.
  • Proven track record as a senior electrical engineer with hands-on design, prototyping, and testing experience.
  • Experience in Altium or related E-CAD software.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead complex technical initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
