About the position

Amentum is seeking an Electrical Systems Operator (ESO) to join our team in Augusta, GA. This position is critical for the effective operation of electrical systems within the Facility Control Office. The ESO will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of utility outages, ensuring that all maintenance customers and mission support elements are informed in a timely manner. The role requires a proactive approach to managing facilities emergencies, with the ESO expected to notify all impacted personnel promptly. In addition to emergency response, the ESO will prepare and review daily operations logs and alarm summaries, ensuring that all follow-up actions are taken. The position involves providing shift coverage to maintain the recommended staffing levels necessary for the operation of campus systems and to respond to emergencies effectively. The ESO will supervise campus utility outages when necessary, assisting with shutdown sequences and outage coordination. The role also includes evaluating day-to-day operations of various systems, including chilled water distribution, air handling systems, and compressed air systems. The ESO will coordinate plant changes with building maintenance and operations personnel, ensuring accurate monitoring and control of HVAC and chilled water distribution systems through the EMCS Systems. Additionally, the ESO will monitor fire alarm systems and initiate daily plant status reports to reflect the health and welfare of all facilities systems. Conducting routine mechanical and electrical systems tours is essential to inspect and monitor maintenance activities, ensuring system availability is not interrupted. The ESO will respond to emergencies and routine service calls, taking necessary actions to control or repair issues and providing follow-up details for watch logs. Major incidents will be reported by submitting After Action Reports (AAR) within the timeframe defined by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all utility outages with other maintenance customers and mission support elements.
  • Ensure timely notification of facilities emergencies to all impacted personnel.
  • Prepare and review daily operations logs and alarm summaries to ensure follow-up actions are taken.
  • Provide shift coverage to maintain recommended staffing levels for campus systems and emergency response.
  • Supervise campus utility outages and assist with shutdown sequences and outage coordination.
  • Evaluate day-to-day operations on chilled water distribution, air handling systems, and compressed air systems.
  • Coordinate plant changes with building maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Monitor and control HVAC and chilled water distribution systems through EMCS Systems.
  • Monitor and control fire alarm systems through the building fire alarm system.
  • Initiate daily plant status reports reflecting the health and welfare of all facilities systems.
  • Maintain operators logs for plant reconfigurations and responses to problem areas.
  • Conduct routine mechanical and electrical systems tours to inspect maintenance activities.
  • Respond to and dispatch facilities personnel to emergencies and routine service calls.
  • Take necessary actions to control or repair problems and provide follow-up details for watch logs.
  • Report major incidents by submitting AAR within the appropriate timeframe.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current U.S government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and polygraph (TS/SCI Poly).
  • Ten years' experience performing work on electrical distribution systems.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in monitoring and controlling major facilities electrical systems including UPS, power generation, and SCADA.
