About the position
The Electrical Technician position at Novelis Oswego focuses on the maintenance, service, and repair of facilities and equipment within the manufacturing environment. This role is essential for ensuring that machinery and specialty equipment operate correctly, contributing to the company's commitment to sustainable aluminum solutions. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and willing to adapt to varying conditions while receiving training in troubleshooting and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment
- Inspect for problems
- Work with wires using hand tools while handling small components
- Repair and replace defective components in motors, generators, controllers, storage batteries, switchboards, conductors, switches and varied electrical fixtures
- Install, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment
- Perform defensive repair and preservation of field, plant and shop for electronic and electrical systems, equipment, and devices
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Plan and prepare work orders or instructions utilizing blueprints, sketches, and drawings
Requirements
- 2 Year Electrical Degree or 5+ years experience
- Medical Clearance for use of Fall Protection Harness (Weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply)
- Experience with Power Distribution
- Experience with Industrial motor control (A/C & D/C Controls)
- Experience with Process control and instrumentation
- Experience with Combustion control systems
- Computer skills / computer operated control systems
- Ladder logic
