About the position

The Electrical Technician at HP Hood plays a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting dairy processing and packaging equipment. This position focuses on electrical safety procedures, basic electricity, and electrical troubleshooting, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of plant operations. The technician will work closely with experienced technicians and plant personnel to develop their skills and advance their career within the company.

Responsibilities

• Analyze electro/mechanical problems of dairy processing and packaging equipment.
• Monitor and communicate with various PLCs under the guidance of current Electrical Technicians.
• Troubleshoot plant and utility equipment, making necessary repairs.
• Assist machine operators in determining when to shut down machines due to issues.
• Train with plant personnel on electrical aspects of the position.
• Perform preventative maintenance procedures on plant equipment and complete paperwork.
• Process requisitions to replace parts used in maintenance.
• Execute assigned projects under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator/Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and complete daily records of work performed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic industrial 3-phase power, including AC and DC motors, relay logic, and programmable control logic.
• Basic working knowledge of power transmission equipment, mechanical drawings, scales, and symbols.
• Prior experience in basic industrial electricity or equivalent.
• Prior experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent, with lead/foreman experience preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel).
• Excellent troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to work well with people and communicate effectively.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in the electrical field.
