About the position

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Test Engineer who will be part of the Hardware Test Engineering team focused on next generation robotic system design. The electrical test engineer will plan, design, execute, and document testing of electrical systems and components. This will include the design of fixtures and the use of scripting to automate tests to maximize efficiency. You will be responsible for leading and developing test strategies and solutions for new products, with a focus on automation, cycle time reduction, and improving product quality. In this role, you will work closely with hardware development, regulatory & compliance, program management, and other hardware test team members. The ideal candidate will draw upon previous electrical test engineer experience, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and a passion for creating reliable and maintainable systems. You should be open to new challenges, strong at multi-tasking, innovative, creative, self-directed, and a great team player. You will drive continuous process improvement and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to solve problems and implement new solutions. A typical day in this position involves meeting with cross-functional teams to understand the business needs for your project, reviewing and providing feedback on requirements, and developing test plans to verify and validate adherence to said requirements. You will also collaborate with other Test Engineers, Hardware and Software developers to understand tools and techniques required for testing, and develop test fixtures, documentation, and test reports.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, execute, and document testing of electrical systems and components.
  • Design fixtures and use scripting to automate tests to maximize efficiency.
  • Lead and develop test strategies and solutions for new products.
  • Collaborate with hardware development, regulatory & compliance, program management, and other hardware test team members.
  • Review and provide feedback on requirements and develop test plans to verify and validate adherence to requirements.
  • Develop test fixtures, documentation, and test reports.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
  • Experience in automation testing
  • Experience in manual testing
  • Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects
  • BS degree in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
  • Knowledge of test equipment and test fixture design
  • Demonstrated expertise with test strategy development and implementation
  • Bench top electrical debug tool experience as well as electrical design of test circuitry is critical.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality
  • Basic scripting experience in a high-level programming language such as Python, Matlab, or LabVIEW
  • Experience with motors, robotics, or sensors
  • Experience in circuit level debug to the component level
  • Schematic capture tool experience with a desire to design low-level interface boards for test fixtures
  • Knowledge of Industrial power and automation is a plus
  • Experience decomposing hardware requirements into test cases
  • Uses a strong analytical approach to problem solving.
