About the position

Frontgrade is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer who will develop test plans, procedures, fixtures, and design Special Test Equipment (STE). This role involves supporting production tests and performing testing of motors, actuators, slip rings, and control electronics. A significant emphasis will be placed on utilizing test automation to optimize resource use and enhance quality consistency. The Test Engineering candidate will also be trained in the operation of thermal vacuum chambers, ambient thermal chambers, and vibration test equipment. Responsibilities include performing vibration testing of motion products and analyzing the resulting data. The candidate's electrical engineering knowledge will be crucial for testing and troubleshooting high-performance servo processor and motor drive boards for the controller product line.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans to meet contract test requirements as defined by verification and validation flow down from systems engineering.
  • Implement the test plans by developing detailed procedures, fixtures, and STE required to conduct the test activity.
  • Test and troubleshoot mixed analog and digital circuit cards.
  • Install test fixtures into thermal vacuum chambers and on the vibration shaker.
  • Perform specialized testing for advanced actuators and systems.
  • Provide ongoing support of production test technicians during production test activities.
  • Learn to operate the multi-axis vibration controller and shaker setup and be able to interpret the resulting data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years of experience in this role or a similar role whose skills apply
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government export license(s) as required by law.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of Test software experience (LabVIEW, Python, or similar)
  • 2+ years of Electrical test engineering experience including electrical troubleshooting and basic mechanical skills
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Familiarity with testing and troubleshooting electrical components
  • Experience interfacing with customers
  • Motor operation basics and testing, actuator testing
  • Familiarity with thermal chambers, vacuum chambers, and vibration testing experience
  • Working in an aerospace business environment
