About the position
This position works under direction and requires thorough knowledge of the electrician trade. The role involves acting as a lead worker, providing work direction and training over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. Responsibilities include installing, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing various electrical systems and equipment, as well as ensuring compliance with security regulations.
Responsibilities
- Act as lead worker over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals.
- Installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment.
- Determines & completes materials needed, cost estimates, & submits requests to purchase.
- Reads blueprints &/or schematic diagrams; maintains inventory of electrical supplies.
- Maintains tool count of tools used by incarcerated individuals.
- Performs other maintenance &/or miscellaneous duties such as semi-skilled carpentry, painting, electrical, sheet metal, HVAC.
- Ensures compliance with security regulations.
- Installs, troubleshoots, tests, modifies &/or maintains basic telecommunications &/or electronic data processing equipment.
- Serves on institutional committees.
- Attends training, seminars &/or meetings.
- Performs security functions as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 18 months training or 18 months verifiable experience in electrical work under supervision of experienced electrician.
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & in reading & writing common English vocabulary.
- Or 6 months experience as Electrician 1, 52281.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
