About the position

The Electrician Apprentice position in the oil and gas field offers a unique opportunity for individuals to gain hands-on experience while working closely with licensed electricians. This role is focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in various industrial environments, particularly within the Texas Permian Basin and New Mexico. The apprentice will learn essential skills in the electrical trade, contributing to a rewarding career in the energy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed electricians with the installation, testing, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and components in oilfield facilities.
  • Support in pulling cables, wiring conduits, and mounting electrical equipment under supervision.
  • Perform routine inspections of electrical systems and report potential issues to journeymen or supervisors.
  • Learn and follow safety protocols, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and assist with diagnosing issues in motors, control systems, lighting, and communication systems.
  • Keep a clean and organized work area, manage tools and equipment, and ensure proper storage and maintenance.
  • Participate in on-the-job training, learning to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the electrical trade, with a focus on industrial or oil and gas environments.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts and willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Willingness to travel between job sites across Texas and New Mexico.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (training provided).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some experience working in industrial or construction environments.
  • Prior exposure to the oil and gas industry or experience in remote job sites.
