About the position

This apprenticeship position involves assisting a journey electrician in the installation and repair of electrical systems. The role focuses on hands-on tasks that support the journey electrician, including gathering tools, measuring and cutting materials, and performing minor repairs. The apprentice will gain practical experience in the electrical field while contributing to various projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the journey electrician in the installation and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at the work site according to instructions.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using rulers and hand tools.
  • Drill holes for wiring and pull or push wiring through openings.
  • Lift, position, and fasten objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues that may arise.
  • May assist with the inspection and repair of electrical service and emergency power circuits within buildings.
  • Maintain and organize supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • May be assigned to serve on special task forces during emergencies such as floods, storms, or hurricanes.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of six months of directly job-related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions like percentages and ratios.

Nice-to-haves

  • Education may be considered in lieu of experience.
