About the position

The Electrician position at Hartford HealthCare involves performing electrical duties to repair, maintain, and install low voltage electrical systems in accordance with codes and hospital priorities. This role is crucial in ensuring the functionality and safety of electrical systems within the hospital environment, contributing to the overall operational efficiency of one of New England's largest teaching hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects electrical systems such as wiring, fixtures, and appliances and troubleshoots system failures.
  • Identifies faults and hazards and repairs as needed, providing specifications on equipment replacement.
  • Installs and maintains various low voltage electrical systems, including garage doors, automatic doors, and alarm systems.
  • Documents electrical maintenance reports using the electronic work order system.
  • Tests emergency lighting, eye wash stations, and electrical receptacles to ensure proper functionality.
  • Replaces 4,160 & 11,500 volt feeder switching, fuse replacement, and breaker racking.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical panels, LED lighting, and surgical lighting.
  • Performs outdoor electrical installation, maintenance, and repair, including work on automatic gates and emergency blue light systems.
  • Installs new variable frequency drives and performs troubleshooting and maintenance on electric motors up to 100HP.
  • Conducts IDF closet buildouts including installation of racks and cable management systems.
  • Recycles hazardous materials in the proper manner.
  • Installs ALC HVAC controls and various electrical components such as switches and sensors.
  • Inspects and tests emergency generators and transfer switches.

Requirements

  • Completion of a four (4) year electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent.
  • Valid CT E2 Licensure required; valid E1 Licensure preferred.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, including manholes.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand wiring diagrams.
