About The Position

This position reports to the E&I Maintenance Supervisor and utilizes electrical and instrumentation skills based on education and experience to resolve electrical and instrument issues at the Lake Charles LyondellBasell facility. This includes troubleshooting, calibrating, and repair of all electrical and instrument equipment to maintain continuous operation of the site's operating units.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years electrician experience working with industrial electrical power distribution equipment and systems
  • Experienced in all commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical field
  • Must demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skills/knowledge in the electrical discipline
  • NCCER certification in electrical maintenance a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Associate level electrical/instrumentation degree or equivalent two year trade school.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment
  • Responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
  • Provide technical expertise in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, pro-active maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of unit equipment including: Transformers, breakers and other power distribution equipment, motor starters, motors, etc.
  • Maintenance to site process equipment
  • Applies electrical theory and related knowledge in the testing, trouble-shooting, configuring, teardown/rebuilding, and repairing of operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in a large refinery
  • Tests, trouble-shoots, configures, rebuilds, and repairs motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles
  • Modifies electrical systems to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer or Specialist
  • Diagnoses the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Is able to understand and initiate correction of electrical one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion
  • Records data associated with periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
