About the position

The Electrician-First Class position at SEPTA involves installing, maintaining, repairing, testing, and adjusting electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. The role is crucial for ensuring that all electrical work complies with specifications and relevant codes, contributing to the efficient operation of SEPTA's extensive transportation network.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs, tests and adjusts electrical equipment, wiring and fixtures.
• Inspects, cleans, repairs transformers, inverters, motor alternators, automatic transfer switches, switchboard relays.
• Inspects, cleans and makes all repairs to lighting circuits, replaces fuses and circuit breakers.
• Installs and repairs substation power traction equipment, bus bars and wiring, repairs motors and motor controls.
• Maintains power service to all electrical apparatus.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Will be required to obtain a CDL.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment and performance tests as required.
• Must have 4 years of relevant electrical work experience.
• An equivalent combination of trade school education and experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirements (one year of formal education equating to two years of experience).
• Must have relevant electrical work experience and be proficient in the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and adjustment of electrical equipment.
