The Electrician Helper position at TIC - The Industrial Company involves assisting skilled craftspersons in various electrical tasks under immediate supervision. This entry-level role is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the electrical field, with responsibilities that vary based on experience and assigned job step.

Responsibilities

• Learn to interpret drawings, sketches, software, and plans to determine best work procedures and tools needed for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Assist skilled craftsman in measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit; welding supports; installing cable and duct banks; and making terminations.
• Assist with the installation of control and distribution apparatus and fastening them in place.
• Assist with testing and starting up systems and ensuring electrical compatibility and safety of components.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• May be required to pull wire through conduit and connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
• Work with high and low voltage systems.
• Assist with the disassembly and repair of defective electrical equipment or systems.
• Learn to operate electrical and mechanical hand tools, as well as power, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline.
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.
