The Electrician I - Facilities position at the College of Southern Nevada is a full-time role that reports to the Division of Facilities Management located at the North Las Vegas Campus. The primary responsibilities include performing electrical journeyman work, which requires a valid Nevada Electrical Journeyman Card. The role involves reading blueprints, working with circuits, and handling electrical systems ranging from low voltage to 480 volts. The electrician will also work with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, generators, and emergency call boxes. A significant part of the job includes creating material lists for supervisors to order, upgrading lighting systems to LEDs, and managing building management systems (BMS). The Electrician I will be responsible for maintaining high-quality customer service while interacting with CSN staff, vendors, students, and faculty. The position requires the use of a PC for various tasks, including managing work orders through the TMA system, handling emails, and utilizing building management software. Adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local/state/building codes is mandatory. The electrician will also perform maintenance, service, repair, and diagnostic duties associated with electrical work. Physical demands of the job include lifting up to 60 lbs, working on ladders, and entering confined spaces. The role requires bending, working under equipment, and moving about ceilings, as well as working with HVACR systems. The electrician will handle complex electrical controls, automation, wiring, and data communication systems. The position may require working at multiple campuses, necessitating reliable transportation. The work schedule may vary, with shifts typically running Monday to Thursday or Wednesday to Saturday, and overtime may be required in emergencies.
