The Electrician Master position at LSU Health Sciences Center-New Orleans is a critical role within the Division of Facility Services, aimed at ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading a team of skilled electricians, maintenance repairers, and trade apprentices, providing guidance and support in various electrical tasks. This position requires a minimum of three years of experience in the electrical trade, with a focus on systems operating at 480 volts and under. The Electrician Master will oversee the installation, maintenance, alteration, and repair of electrical wiring, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. In addition to technical skills, the Electrician Master will be tasked with performing preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting power failures, and executing minor projects. The role also involves equipment operation and ensuring that all necessary materials and tools are available for the completion of assignments. The Electrician Master will act as a leadworker, assigning specific tasks to other journeymen and ensuring timely completion of all phases of installation and maintenance assignments. This position does not require a Civil Service test, but candidates must undergo pre-employment drug testing, physical examinations, and criminal background checks. The Electrician Master will work under the general supervision of an Electrician Foreman or other maintenance supervisory personnel, and will be expected to maintain records, estimate time and materials for jobs, and inspect the work of contracted employees.
