About the position

The Electrician (Power System) position at the Department of the Interior's Upper Colorado Basin is a permanent, full-time role based in Page, Arizona. The role involves performing a variety of journeyman-level electrician duties for industrial facilities associated with dams and hydroelectric power plants. The selected candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing heavy industrial electrical equipment, ensuring the efficient operation of power systems while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journeyman level electrician duties for industrial facilities and equipment associated with dams and hydroelectric power plants.
  • Troubleshoot, assemble, maintain, install, adjust, and repair heavy industrial electrical equipment including transformers, generators, switchboards, and circuit breakers.
  • Operate and use various equipment, tools, and machinery such as electrical analyzing equipment, conduit benders, and forklifts.
  • Conduct hydroelectric power plant operations including starting, stopping, switching, and load/voltage control.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program related to industrial machinery and equipment or equivalent journey-level electrician experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical practices required for troubleshooting, assembling, maintaining, installing, adjusting, and repairing heavy industrial electrical equipment.
  • Ability to perform duties without more than normal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices in industrial settings.
