The Electrician (Power Systems) position at the Department of the Interior's Hoover Dam Field Division involves maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment in high voltage substations and hydroelectric generating stations. The role is crucial for ensuring the reliability of power systems while adhering to safety and environmental standards. This full-time, permanent position is located in Clark County, Nevada, and requires occasional travel for training and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Connects and services distribution transformers and instrument transformers.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical equipment and circuits in high voltage substations and hydroelectric generating stations.
• Installs switchboards and devices according to adequate drawings.
• Reads and works from station drawings, including schematic drawings.
• Adjusts and repairs electrical equipment, makes splices and connections, and installs conduit and busbars.
• Tests circuits, diagnoses trouble, and performs related duties.
• Operates high-voltage switches and related devices, setting up safe clearances as required.
• Maintains security card access, fire safety control, and hoist and cableway systems.
• Performs preventive and regular maintenance on elevators and escalators.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
• Must have experience as a journey level Electrician.
• Must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
