Electrician Trainee - Alexandria, VA

About the position

The Electrician Trainee position at Dominion Energy involves a full range of construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. The role requires working in both energized and de-energized environments, primarily outdoors, and includes heavy labor tasks such as climbing steel structures and operating heavy equipment. The position is unionized and offers a competitive starting pay rate along with additional benefits.

Responsibilities

• Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.
• Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances.
• Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations.
• Work with various materials including mineral oils, paints, compressed gases, battery acids, PCB's, solvents, and explosives.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months.

Nice-to-haves

• Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement or CDL learner's permit.
• Previous electric and/or utility experience.
• Experience with forklift operations, aerial lifts, power driven equipment, painting, cutting equipment, pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic equipment.
