About the position

The GOM Electrician Trainee position at Chevron Corporation involves maintaining and repairing electrical and electronic equipment associated with offshore oil and gas operations. The role is part of a multi-skilled offshore operations team, working on a rotational schedule in various deepwater facilities. The trainee will support health, safety, and environmental processes while ensuring equipment operates efficiently and adheres to operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by following regulations and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain automation equipment related to offshore operations.
  • Work on electrical motors, switchgear, transformers, lighting systems, generators, and HVAC systems.
  • Collaborate with team members and contractors to ensure peak equipment efficiency.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System for work orders and inventory management.
  • Ensure all work performed meets Chevron's Operational Excellence standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must graduate with an associate degree in Applied Science in Industrial Electronics by May 2025.
  • Associate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher in relevant fields within the last 3 years, or military experience in a related discipline.
  • Willingness to work a 14/14 offshore rotational schedule.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol screening, background check, and physical examination.
  • Must be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine before starting work.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of offshore electrician experience in the petroleum or chemical industry.
  • Familiarity with reliability efforts for safety and environmental issues.
  • Experience with voltages up to 13.8 kV.
  • General knowledge of operations or chemical process systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain electronic instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and predictive failure analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office and CMMS.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with limited supervision.
  • Effective teamwork and cooperation skills.
