About the position

The Electrician works closely with the Plant Electrical Engineer and performs a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains, and replaces electronic programmable controllers for the use in the manufacture of aluminum cans.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot problems, identify root causes, and propose and implement remedies.
• Work off shifts (afternoons and midnights) and overtime as necessary.
• Lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Climb or balance as required.
• Maintain effective communication skills in a team environment.
• Manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
• Keep effective records and focus on details.

Requirements

• Ability to troubleshoot problems and identify root causes.
• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
• Effective record keeping skills.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of current electrical codes.
• Knowledge of all electrical systems and components.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

Nice-to-haves

• AS Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Journeyman license preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years' industrial electrical/programming experience or two-year technical degree strongly preferred.
• PLC programming experience with platforms such as Allen Bradley PLC5, Control Logix, HMI, and Servo Drive.
• Experience in computer networking (routers, Ethernet, switches, etc.) preferred.
• Mechanical troubleshooting experience in high speed packaging and/or highly automated continuous process environment preferred.
