About the position

The Electrician position at the Naval Research Laboratory involves installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in buildings and laboratory spaces. The role requires expertise in electrical circuits, machinery, and safety protocols, ensuring that all installations meet the National Electric Code and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and determine necessary wiring and circuits for electric power and lighting.
  • Design, construct, install, and repair electrical raceways and supports.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend conduits using mechanical or hydraulic benders.
  • Install and repair electrical wiring, switches, outlets, panels, meters, and light fixtures.
  • Install and repair transformers, electric motors, appliances, and generators of various voltages.
  • Design and fabricate electrical parts using appropriate materials.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections of electrical circuits and equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, controls, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various electrical tools and test equipment.
