About the position

The Electrician position at Ur-Energy in Rawlins, Wyoming, is a critical role responsible for maintaining electrical systems across various project sites, including operating wellfields, processing facilities, and ancillary buildings. The successful candidate will be tasked with the field connection of powerlines to wellfield transformers and motor-control centers, ensuring the seamless operation of new production areas. All work performed must adhere to the specifications and requirements set forth by building and safety code regulations in the State of Wyoming. In this role, the electrician will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using both hand tools and power tools. Diagnosing malfunctioning systems and utilizing test equipment to locate breakdown causes is essential. The electrician will also plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes, ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position requires testing electrical systems and the continuity of circuits in various electrical components, using approved testing devices while maintaining safety protocols. Inspecting electrical systems to identify hazards and defects is a key responsibility, as is advising management on the potential hazards of continued equipment operation. The electrician will also be involved in the connection of header houses and wellfield components, wiring operational and plant systems, and installing high voltage underground systems. Minimal programming of PLCs, DCS, and VFD systems related to electrical maintenance and installations is also part of the job. Effective communication of electrical project needs and safety requirements to supervisors and coworkers is crucial. The electrician will specify and recommend the purchase of electrical project materials and may be required to respond to off-hours call-outs to Lost Creek. This position demands a commitment to safety practices and policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, electrical cabinets, equipment, and fixtures using various electrical industrial approved testing devices.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Connect header houses and wellfield components, including instrumentation, MCCs, low voltage, and PLC panels.
  • Wire and connect operational and plant systems, including instrumentation, MCCs, low voltage, and PLC panels.
  • Install high voltage underground and above ground systems.
  • Perform minimal programming of PLCs, DCS, and VFD systems as it relates to electrical maintenance and installations.
  • Troubleshoot instruments as it relates to electrical connections.
  • Communicate electrical project needs and safety requirements to supervisors and coworkers.
  • Specify and recommend the purchase of electrical project materials.
  • Respond to off-hours call-outs to Lost Creek.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Experience in Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and minimal experience on PLC, DCS systems, and VFD instrumentation.
  • Journeyman Electrician or greater, with the requirement to maintain current license/identification for continued employment.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people.
  • Proficient in the use of a Personal Computer (PC) for procurement, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with vendors in the specification and ordering of materials.
