About the position

The Electrician position is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, and installing electrical systems related to power distribution, motor and boiler controls, and other electrical equipment. This role also includes maintenance of mechanical and plumbing systems, contributing to the overall operation and appearance of the facilities. The Electrician will oversee the work of outside contractors and may supervise student assistants and helpers as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, service, repair, and install electrical systems associated with power distribution, motor and boiler controls, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all mechanical/electrical equipment, including lubrication, replacement, and adjustment of components.
  • Examine electrical equipment and systems for damage and corrosion, and install and connect various electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical control circuits and replace defective components.
  • Cut, thread, and bend conduit; assemble and replace conduit fittings and junction boxes; locate and repair electrical wiring faults.
  • Repair and service high-voltage equipment such as rotating machinery and circuit breakers.
  • Use hand tools and specialized equipment to complete repairs or installations of electrical systems.
  • Erect and utilize specialized ladders, rigging, and scaffolding for various tasks.
  • Drive college-owned vehicles as required to perform essential job duties.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

Requirements

  • Electrical Journeyman's License
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, motors, generators, and electrical equipment
  • Ability to oversee the work of outside contractors performing electrical work
  • Skills in using tools related to job duties.

  • Electrical Contractor's License
  • Quarterly compliance training as assigned by the institution
