About the position

Marshall University is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our Facilities & Operations team. The Electrician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of electrical systems and related controls and devices. This role requires adherence to the National Electric Code standards and involves troubleshooting electrical problems using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring and testing devices. The Electrician will work from work orders or verbal instructions to make necessary adjustments or repairs, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess a valid driver's license and hold a Journeyman Electrician license. The position is based at Marshall University, located in Huntington, West Virginia, and offers a competitive salary range of $34,200 to $39,300, which may be adjusted based on education, experience, and internal equity. Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, modify, service, and repair electrical systems and related controls and devices.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing devices.
  • Make adjustments or repairs in accordance with work orders or verbal instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electric Code standards during all work activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman Electrician License.
  • 1 year of experience in commercial/industrial electrical work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Electrical Certificate from Technical College or Vocational School.
  • Completed Electrical Apprenticeship.
  • 3 years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical work.
