At Caterpillar's Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining trucks and construction equipment. In this role as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will work independently and as part of a team to design processes and systems used in manufacturing. As a member of the Battery Electric New Product team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements and make recommendations for facility systems, processes, training, equipment needs, and engineering product designs.
  • Complete both specialized and broad-based assignments/projects which may require collaboration and integration with other functions.
  • Evaluate projects and prepare feasibility studies to define desired results, assess value proposition and determine project plans.
  • Analyze, provide specifications and acquire new or replacement equipment.
  • Perform capital forecasting correlation and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, product capacity increases, equipment replacement and continuous process improvement.
  • Analyze the New Product's impact to the current Value Stream metrics.
  • Identify design solutions to address known Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost opportunities on the current product.
  • Improve space utilization in manufacturing by driving RIOP Manufacturing strategies.
  • Develop and implement assembly processes in line with Caterpillar standard processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience assembling Mining and Quarry Trucks.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working in Teamcenter, MES-A and CAPP+.

Nice-to-haves

  • The ability to travel 10%.
