About the position

The Electrification Vehicle Logistics Manager at Ford Motor Company is responsible for designing and implementing a cost-efficient outbound vehicle logistics network that services both domestic and international dealers. This role involves leading new model program efforts, ensuring that logistics facilities and costs meet budget requirements for upcoming programs, and collaborating cross-functionally to optimize vehicle delivery processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust and cost-efficient outbound vehicle logistics network servicing domestic and international dealers.
  • Lead new model planning efforts associated with CE1 Vehicle Logistics, including costs and timing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments including Product Development, Marketing & Sales, and Transportation Purchasing.
  • Engineer CE1 vehicle logistics to ensure timely delivery to the dealer network while minimizing premium freight.
  • Dimension CE1 investment required for implementing facilities to support new model programs.
  • Program manage CE1 Vehicle Logistics facility changes for new models and current state.
  • Engineer vehicle flows from origin to final destinations to achieve optimal conveyance density.
  • Launch CE1 new model network design flawlessly, including carriers and routes.
  • Negotiate contracts with Origin Service Providers to support CE1 operations.
  • Lead contract negotiations for CE1 permanent storage and staging lots.
  • Support homologation efforts and port launch processes as required.
  • Ensure damage-free vehicle loading by assessing vehicle attributes.
  • Identify and implement annual cost and transit time efficiencies within the NAVL network.
  • Support carrier negotiations to optimize outbound vehicle network for cost, quality, speed, and reliability.
  • Implement a network design to achieve 85%+ on-time customer vehicle deliveries.
  • Perform Vehicle Load Tests for various transport modes to ensure quality loading capability.
  • Develop and implement best-in-class vehicle inspection technology and processes.
  • Oversee vehicle movement at CE1 Assembly plants to ensure shipping to plan.
  • Work with carriers and logistics providers to maintain on-time performance targets.
  • Resolve operational and logistical issues affecting deliveries and performance.
  • Develop tracking metrics and tools to monitor key KPIs.
  • Reduce premium freight spend to meet budget.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory flow and vehicle aging issues.
  • Engage plant quality/production teams to prevent repetitive damage during loading.
  • Lead quality review meetings with carrier/supplier partners and focus on high-impact data.
  • Lead damage prevention efforts and regular inspections, focusing on origin loading and securement processes.
  • Resolve vehicle delivery problems related to dealer and carrier disputes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Functional expertise in finished vehicle logistics, including NAVL rail and car haul network and its carrier partners.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle logistics industry trends and technology advancements.
  • Extraordinary teamwork and collaborative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing significant projects and budgets.
  • Strong project/time management and communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the new model planning process.
  • Ability to efficiently query, extract, and analyze data.
  • Ability to interface effectively with global senior leadership.
  • Above average analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter who can operate independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in North American vehicle logistics industry
  • Proficient in Alteryx and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or Qlik
