The Field Services Technician is a crucial role responsible for the installation, service, and repair of various types of doors and hardware technology. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure that all installations meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The technician will be involved in a wide range of tasks, including the installation and servicing of locksets, master keying, door closers, power operators, exit devices, doors, frames, accessories, ramps, and thresholds. The role also involves performing diagnostic services for both mechanical and electrical architectural and security hardware, ensuring that all systems function correctly and efficiently. In addition to installation and repair duties, the technician will execute wiring diagrams and follow scheduling instructions based on architectural floor plans. Effective communication is essential, as the technician will need to convey complex technical information to customers both in the field and over the phone. Keeping accurate records of activities, maintenance records, and service inventory is also a critical part of the job, as is maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge of industry changes, products, and codes. The technician will coordinate special projects and provide recommendations for applications, assessing each situation to determine the best solution based on relevant codes, security requirements, and serviceability. A clean driving and safety record is mandatory, and the technician may be required to perform various other duties as requested by management.
