About the position

The Electromagnetics Effects Test Engineer will be responsible for leading and conducting electromagnetic interference testing on ground support equipment and spacecraft payloads at Kennedy Space Center's Electromagnetics Laboratory. This role requires a hands-on engineer with a solid background in electronics testing, effective leadership, and operations management of complex electronic test equipment. The engineer will ensure the technical integrity of measurement systems, manage operational risks, and communicate effectively with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a test engineer, test conductor, and task lead for electromagnetic effects testing.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure the readiness and integrity of measurement systems for testing.
  • Manage operational risks associated with testing activities.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding testing processes and results.
  • Author detailed operational procedures that incorporate technical, quality, and safety elements.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Physics, Electrical, Electronics, or Aerospace engineering.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in electronic testing and measurements, particularly in RF communications and electromagnetic interference testing.
  • Experience as a test conductor and test engineer.
  • Competent in a general programming language, preferably Python.
  • Effective task/project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with MS Office products.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing test requirements and plans, and procurement specifications.
  • Experience performing tests on electrical and electronic hardware at various levels.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD 461 derived tests.
  • Familiarity with Pro/E - Creo, AutoCAD or equivalent CAD/CAE system.
  • General familiarity with KSC / space launch ground support equipment and processes.
  • iNARTE EMI or ESD certification.
  • Experience working with Maximo.
