About the position

The Electro-Mechanical Repair Technician at Hitachi Energy is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on production and processing equipment. This role involves troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, replacing components, and modifying equipment to support continuous improvement. The technician will adhere to safety protocols and ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures including Lock-Out-Tag-Out
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machines and plant equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment and make recommendations to PM program
  • Run conduit and pull wire for new machines and equipment
  • Read/follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and technical manuals
  • Troubleshoot/repair systems or equipment such as hydraulic systems, transformers, motors, DC circuitry, PLCs, variable frequency drives, relays, switches, position sensing devices and printed circuit boards
  • Monitor and document observations, settings, readings, meters, gauges as required
  • Use common electrical/mechanical devices such as multi-meters, amp-probes, megger, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Basic welding and cutting, including acetylene torch, plasma, stick, and brazing
  • Secure and complete required department work order documentation
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area and general surroundings
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in an engineering discipline or industrial maintenance/electrician certificate from an accredited trade school
  • Work authorization that permits employment in the United States
  • Proficient in using common electrical/mechanical devices
  • Working knowledge of 115 & 480V equipment and safe troubleshooting practices

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hydraulic systems
  • Familiarity with PLCs and variable frequency drives
  • Basic welding skills
